Senior Software Developer Manager

The Senior Software Developer Manager is technical manager who will actively participate and contribute to design and delivery activities within the organization while leading others.

This person will perform design and development activities inclusive of UI, Microservices and server side components to satisfy the needs of our Digital Insured. In collaboration across our client's enterprise technology organizations, these initiatives will employ advanced technologies and methodologies in order to deliver critical business functionality incrementally, while adhering to architectural principles of reuse and multi-device deployment. Proof of concepts and innovation sprints leveraging more disruptive technologies like cognitive and IoT are also part of this role. Providing thought leadership, empowering the developers, and ensuring the team's needs are met to enable effectiveness and innovation is expected.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Management of work assignments across the technical project team
  • Responsible for driving the technical execution from origination to implementation
  • Servant leader that works to eliminate blocks that the team encounters
  • Change Agent - Responsible for ensuring the team keeps a continuous improvement, inspect and adapt mindset
  • Building and leveraging effective alliances across technical and business community.
  • Agile coach for technical practices (test driven development, refactoring, continuous integration) geared at ensuring high quality code that is flexible to changing/evolving needs and is maintainable.
  • Perform Java/Javascript design and development as well as the development of server-side components to satisfy digital requirements
  • Adopt and communicate new concepts, ideas, techniques and best practices
  • Work closely with UX designers, business partners, business analysts and software architects to deliver highly usable software that satisfies our customers' needs


WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 years of experience in software engineering, application design, development and delivery of technical solutions
  • Experience leading others
  • Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks and experience with at least one of the frameworks (Angular, Dojo, ExtJS), Sencha ExtJS experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience with the iterative software development lifecycle using agile practices
  • Strong technical design and programming skills inclusive of: HTML and CSS, Component-based design, Java framework Spring or transferrable skills from similar technologies such as .NET, Ajax experience, including developing or working with services (RESTful or otherwise), Transaction design (OLTP, Batch, etc.), and SQL development experience
  • Technical experience with any of the following is a nice to have: Solr seach engine experience, MongoDB, or Node.js
  • Cloud application development experience a plus.

  • Technical Knowledge: Has previous development and software delivery experience. Uses this technical background to provide detailed task level information that will be tracked against project milestones and commitments. Breadth of knowledge of IT technical stacks.
  • Execution – Ensures that goals and objectives of team are aligned with the business needs. Collaborates with team members to help outline the work plan.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making - Demonstrates sound analytic and diagnostic skills dealing with issues that are loosely defined and/or where information is available but must be further manipulated. Once decisions are made, is able to follow and direct action to implement intended results.
