Help Desk Analyst

This is a 4 to 6-month long contract opportunity.

Currently seeking a Help Desk Analyst for a great opportunity to work within our Clients Information Technology Operations Center (ITOC) in the Hartford, CT area. The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years' experience supporting host mainframe computer systems.

Responsibilities of the Help Desk Analyst
  • Apply learned experience, technical expertise, and excellent customer service skills to ensure system and application availability.
  • Work in a team environment where excellent communication and team work is required.
  • Master all industry accepted system /server administrator responsibilities.
  • Readily detect, diagnose, and resolve problems within the enterprise server environment.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot computer support problems and applies understanding of computer software and hardware products and services to resolve problems of users.
  • Take telephone calls and emails from users having problems using computer software and hardware.
  • Ascertain from user the nature of problem, determines whether problem is caused by hardware such as modem, printer, cables, or telephone, formulates diagnosis, and assists users through problem solving steps.
  • Work with co-workers to research problem and find solution.
Requirements of the Help Desk Analyst
  • Prefer 3-5 years' experience in supporting host mainframe computer systems
  • Understand and Support ZOS, Z processor, and Job Entry Systems(JES-2)
  • Understand and utilize commands for the IBM HMC (Hardware console)
  • Understand and Support Online Systems such as: CICS, DB2, MQ, and IMS
  • Understand and Support Host interactions with server infrastructure
  • Understand and Utilize CA7 and CA11 Scheduling Tools and applications
  • Understand and Utilize Autosys Tool for batch processing
  • Understand and Support JESPlexed/SYSPlexed integration
  • Understand and Support Shared Coupled Facilities
  • Understand and Support Mainframe monitoring and alerting tools (BMC preferred).
  • Understand and Support mainframe system utilities, standalone dump, console dump ,etc.
  • Understand and Support MVS and LPAR configurations
  • Understand and Support HMC systems and IPL processes
  • Understand and capable of using all Command sets and utilities on the tools and systems above
  • Understand and support global mirroring from a host operational standpoint
  • must be a good communicator and adapts to various customer support situations
  • must be able to interact with various levels of management and support groups
  • must be able to work independently, with little supervision
  • must be a quick learner and quick to pick up technology
  • must be able to implement solutions relating to technical problems and deficiencies with minimal direction from management
  • Understand and Support HMC systems and IPL processes
