Field Service Technician / Electrical Technician / Mechanical Technician  / Electrical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer

The responsibility of the Field Service Technician is to resolve technical problems that occur both in house and at customers sites. Being a Field Service Technician  we are the last, but most critical, call for our customers when they have a down machine. We need people that can both walk customers to a solution over the phone as well as be able to go out and fix their problems first-hand.


Requirements:
  • Basic understanding of electrical components and theory
  • Extensive knowledge of Digital Multi-Meter (DMM) usage
  • Electrical safety procedures and practices
  • Read and understand both mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Fluent in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Follow procedures both written and verbal
  • Ability to both give and receive instruction over the phone
 
Desired Skills
Experience with any of the items listed below is desirable; PTR is willing to train qualified candidates.
  • PLC and CNC controls including G Code and/or ladder logic
  • Troubleshooting CNC machine tools/multi axis motion systems
  • High voltage (>1KV) power supplies
  • 480 volt 3 phase circuits
  • High vacuum systems (10-5 m-bar), including diffusion, turbo molecular and cryogenic pumps
  • Solid mechanical aptitude of complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to write and edit cohesive and accurate procedures
 
Personal Requirements:
  • An analytical and detail-oriented personality
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Positively interface with fellow employees and customers in difficult situations
  • Organized, mentally and with documentation (both hard copy and electronic)
  • Maintain accurate records of projects including machine assembly, start up and installation
  • Have the ability to manage and complete multiple projects within the required time line
  • The initiative to learn independently by utilizing available in-house knowledge
  • Be able to work independently within a team environment and communicate effectively with all
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Domestic and International travel (Travel is about 20-30%, subject to change)
  • Ability to work overtime when needed
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Climb and work utilizing ladders
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Utilize mechanical hand and power tools
  • Must be 22 or older becuase car rentals are required for travel.

Education or Work Requirements: Associate degree in electrical engineering - entry level graduates are welcome, or without degree  3–5 years related work experience as a electrician or in electrical background or electrical  trade school experience with some mechanical.
