Senior Infrastructure Engineer

This person will provide engineering support and services associated with KofC's technology infrastructure. Applies to one or more of the following systems disciplines/environments: Open system & mainframe computer platforms, middleware technologies, telephony, database and/or network systems.
Designs, configures, administers, recommends, integrates, and/or constructs infrastructure solutions & systems.

Provides aforementioned infrastructure services in support of information technology and business project activities, often serving as members of a project team.
Infrastructure Engineers are accountable for management and resolution of incident, problem, service request and change management assignments, as well as providing level 2/3 support & services (evaluate, diagnose & resolve) for complex work items level 1 support cannot resolve/satisfy. Frequently requires engagement with internal KofC departments, external partners and/or vendors.

Job Responsibilities
  • Designs, configures, administers, recommends, integrates, and/or constructs infrastructure solutions & systems.
  • Provides aforementioned infrastructure services in support of information technology and business project activities, serving as a member of a project team.
  • Manages and resolves incident, problem, service request and change management assignments and provides level 2/3 support & services.
  • Participates in disaster recovery & business continuity planning and testing.
  • Manages, coordinates and escalates Database service requests with other support teams.
  • Manage Database Backup and Recovery Operations, Promote DB changes into Production.
  • Manage database security and access permissions as required by the Information Security Department.
  • Work with Developers, Schedulers, Security team, and Mainframe team to resolved problems.
  • Perform on-call duties to support a 24/7 operation.
  • Monitor DBMS performance and provide tuning recommendations.
  • Ability to work efficiently both as an individual and as a team member.
  • Strong customer support and communications skills.


Systems / Technical Knowledge
  • Requires in depth knowledge of technologies associated with specific role assigned to engineer.
  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Education
  • BS or BA in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent combination of experience and training.

Experience
  • 7 – 10 years of information technology experience.

Licensing / Certification
  • ITIL Foundation certificate.

Primary Skillsets
  • Advanced knowledge of z\OS operating system and associated technologies used for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced knowledge of IBM DB2 Database on Mainframe Systems and associated technologies, including tuning and performance monitoring.

Secondary Skillsets
  • Advanced knowledge of IBM DB2 LUW and SQL Server and associated technologies, including tuning and performance monitoring.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems and associated technologies used for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced knowledge of IBM DB2 Database on Mainframe Systems and associated technologies, including tuning and performance monitoring.
