Senior Teradata DBA - Must have Devops

The Senior Teradata DBA will be responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment, optimization and implementation of new technologies. In this role, DBA will work with architecture, application development and operations to help achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives. Provides and designs tools to assist in the management of the database and transaction processing environment.

This role will be additional responsible for DevOps implementation patterns, building out technical components of the ODMS DevOps capabilities, define processes and best practices, develop DevOps solutions using the selected tools, mentor others on the use of the DevOps tools and driving adoption of DevOps techniques and tools across ODMS.

  • Work with the transaction processing area to develop both the physical and the logical database administration functions and assists in the development of our processing database and computing environments.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to build the logical database area and provide technical guidance during all phases of the development process.
  • Work with team in evaluating and implementing new technologies.
  • Duties will include coordinating and managing manual production deployments, sometimes outside of normal business hours, assisting with automation of build and deployment activities using DevOps, investigating and communicating status of issues, in cooperation with DBA and developers managing 3rd-party integration relationships and information, communicating and coordinating with developers and other stakeholders.
  • Develop a security scheme for the database environment.

  • Bachelor's Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field preferred
  • Over 8+ years of hands-on Teradata database administration and support responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with Teradata 14.X, 15X
  • Demonstrated understanding of enterprise-level database application implementation and upgrades.
  • SQL server experience a huge Plus
  • Implement data security and hardening (groups, roles, privileges, authentication, and auditing)
  • Deploy database change scripts provided by internal development staff and executing SQL Queries, stored procedures and other database objects
  • Manage and test backup and recovery plans, ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
  • Develop, implement and maintain in-house documentation for processes, including database feature such for common problem resolution and help ticket fixes.
  • Provide database monitoring, space management, and support.
  • Respond to database related alerts and production problem issues.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and performance tuning of Teradata
  • Database tuning and performance monitoring.
  • Application tuning and performance monitoring.
  • Manage Application and User Accounts logins and security.
  • Fulfill requests and resolve incidents within predefined SLAs
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Do general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work within a team or independently.
  • DevOps experience is required
  • Design, build and roll-out repeatable patterns for DevOps implementation for infrastructure provisioning, code deployment and automated testing
  • Participate in process analysis and documentation
  • Source control repository design and implementation
  • Workflow design and development
  • Script design and development
  • Working with application developers and database administrators to automate repeatable processes
  • DevOps tool research, selection, proof of concept, installation and configuration
  • Ongoing support of developed solutions
