Business Solutions Analyst - Insurance

We are seeking a Business Solution Analyst, Insurance to join our Information Technology team in our New York City office.
 
Main areas of responsibility:
  • Maintain the logical and physical integrity of the insurance technology platform foundation by collaborating with the business units, business analysts and development, and establishing documented standards compliant with Guidewire, Duck Creek or other technology platforms in use
  • Apply a structured business architecture approach to define the end-to-end solution including the product model, workflow, features, functions and data. Create a complete inventory of Epics/User stories and review with the business and development teams
  • Ensure that proposed solutions are focused on improving efficiency and effectiveness of the business processes, and are consistent across products where possible.
  • With BA lead, conduct planning for requirements and design approach for each project
  • Develop estimates for solution architecture activities
  • Review all requirements deliverables for adherence to solution foundation standards, technology standards and product needs
  • Conduct pre-user acceptance testing
  • Collaborate with development and testing teams to provide subject matter expertise, ensure that out of the box functionality is leveraged and assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Travel as required, approximately 10%.
 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • 7+ years of business analysis and business solution architecture experience in the Commercial Property & Casualty insurance industry with 2+ years in Specialty insurance.
  • Proven experience applying architectural principles to business solutions
  • Experienced with Agile SCRUM methodology and business analysis methodologies; working knowledge of business analysis documentation standards.
  • Hands-on experience writing user stories is required.
  • Knowledge and experience leveraging both IT solutions and business process improvements.
  • Proven track record of creating clear, concise deliverables that reflect a deep understanding of business needs and the out of the box software functionality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Understands communication channels and escalates appropriately.
  • Strong initiative; able to self-manage. Comfortable with ambiguity and able to work through it to get the right things done.
  • Must be able to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance.
  • Experience using standard project and business tools including Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint.
  • B.A./B.S. Degree
 
Nice to Have's
  • Strong technology experience with policy administration solutions.  Experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter strongly preferred.
